About Us

The concept behind Small Legacies is simple: kids deserve learning opportunities that excite them, help them grow, and teach them life-long lessons. We provide you and your students with high-quality educational tools that help build happy memories through simple learning moments.

At Small Legacies, we believe that the development of financial literacy skills is at the very heart of empowering children to thrive in school and in life. That’s why we create financial literacy tools that support the whole child—in the classroom, at home, and in the community.

Our Story

As parents, we often wonder what kind of legacy we’ll leave for our kids. Our founder Amanda began to think very seriously about this question when her husband, Adam, passed away in April of 2017. Alongside so much else, he left Amanda with the foundational skills that have enabled her to live within her means and guide their family financially—skills that have made a lasting and meaningful impact on her life.

Just as his legacy in financial literacy impacted Amanda’s life in big ways, she knew it could impact the lives of their sons.

Based on the principles introduced to her by Adam, Amanda dreamt up her own version of the give-save-spend bank. The rapid sale of the Enduring Legacy™ Bank demonstrated a need for financial learning tools—a need that Amanda could help fill. She decided to turn her Etsy hobby into the Small Legacies brand and to continue sharing Adam’s legacy not only with her husband and sons, but with young people all over the world.

In 2023 Small Legacies Publishing was launched. Lead by Amanda’s cousin Kendra, the brand expanded to include a variety of educational products and a full  Financial Literacy Curriculum. Kendra’s experience as an elementary educator and curriculum developer have helped shape a more comprehensive resource for families and educators looking to leave a legacy of knowledge.

Philosophy & Mission

We believe that every business has the opportunity to leave an enduring legacy, and this is what we intend ours to be: by encouraging generosity, discipline, and financial literacy through play, we help today’s children grow into kind, capable, and financially wise adults.

Helping Your Child Explore, Grow, & Learn

We believe in Skill-Building Made Simple. Our curriculum is centered around the GIVE-SAVE-SPEND Enduring Legacy™ Bank. Using the Enduring Legacy™ Bank, Financial literacy principles are learned in an engaging, fun way to ensure these essential skills are not easily forgotten!

Movement, music, and interpersonal (emotional) connections are crucial components of effective learning for children. Our work is greatly inspired by Educational Psychologist Howard Garnder and the theory of multiple intelligences. Because every child absorbs and interprets information uniquely.

Above all, our work promotes child-led learning that is based in real-world life skills. We focus on just one skill at a time, allowing children to flourish, thrive and learn in an environment that fits them perfectly.
